Letter Writing Campaign - In Loving Memory of Dave Ford
AREA Fund co-founders Lesley and Tracy Ford undertook the first official fund-raising event for AREA Fund in summer 2010. Letters describing the fund and requesting donations were prepared and mailed to over 50 labour unions, trades unions, construction companies, and other organizations in BC involved in the supply of building materials. In early 2011, they followed up with emails and phone calls to these unions/companies to ensure that the letters had reached the appropriate people. This campaign ran for 3 years and then was followed by 3 years where AREA Fund hosted an awareness walk, called "Walk for Truth", to raise funds and to raise awareness of the hazards of asbestos.
